Marketing Times are Changing

Newspapers are a case in point.  Newspapers and the whole industry are in decline many say.  A flux say others.  A change is as good as a rest .  Yet to many of the hot shots in the newspaper ( ad)  services its a time of terror.  Its even gotten to the point that a prominent British newspaper recently called the freebee generation spoiled brats who want something for nothing.

On the other hand maybe it is a a case of an old business model with clueless management riding the wave , milking ad monies . revenues and income to death.  Look at the TV industry in America as an example.  Mindless fodder all put out , pablum to soothe the masses , all to sell ads.  In the same way newspapers became flyers with articles.  The sad part of that the major national newspapers ( who may well not survive in present forms and size), are used as the research materials of most of the other media – TV etc and are simply hashed and rehashed.   Has it yet not occurred to the high paid television executives that while they are planning their campaigns with fancy colored graphs and charts, calculating to the ot nots that kids are no longer watching TV hours a day.  People who do not have tv anymore really do not miss it they say.  Waste of time , low quality , all they need to read – be it even current events can be easily had on the internet – you tube and the like.  On top of that young males report that on the internet with a messenger service ICQ program -Yahoo , MSN Messenger in its current renamed form , Yahoo Messenger of Eyeball Chat – they at least have a chance of scoring with a girl.

Yes the times they are a changing.  Its a new medium with new tools.  Better get on the bandwagon.
